about
A group of Venetian Jews from the past observes the people walking through the Ghetto, ordinary people as well as celebrities such as Sara Copio Sullam and Leon Modena. Their ironical comments are in the Judeo-Venetian parlance that developed in the Ghetto over the centuries. Momolo Mandolin is the fictional name chosen by a group of modern Venetian Jews who have collected old family sayings and personal memories to compose a new song celebrating this rich local linguistic tradition blending Hebrew and Venetian. The text is set roughly to an excerpt from Judeo-Venetian nusakh (traditional prayer melody) for Passover provided by Gabriele Mancuso.

One of my favourite musical discoveries in a while. These musicians are seriously talented. I can’t help imagining that there would have been a whole significant subculture of Yiddish psych rock like this in a different, kinder universe. For now, this is a window into that world that might have been. And I love every second of it. Audrey
One of the best new albums of Yiddish and Klezmer music on Bandcamp in my opinion. The collaboration of two sensitive artists of different generations who know a lot about Yiddish and American music.
